Abstract
Infrastructure development in Indonesia requires quality and durable construction materials. One of the most widely used construction materials is concrete. However, the availability of natural sand as fine aggregate in making concrete is increasingly limited. Brick waste is an alternative raw material that can be used as a substitute for natural sand. This research aims to determine the workability level of concrete with the addition of brick waste and superplasticizer, the effect of adding brick waste to minimize voids in the concrete, and the effectiveness of using brick waste in increasing the compressive strength of concrete. This research uses experimental methods with material testing and mix design. The quality of concrete used is fc' 21.7 MPa with cylindrical dimensions 15 x 30 cm. Tests were carried out on fresh concrete slump, concrete porosity, and concrete compressive strength at 7 days. The results of the research show that the addition of brick waste can increase the workability of concrete with 0.63% superplasticizer showing optimal reduction results of 13 cm, it can reduce the porosity of concrete with 0.63% superplasticizer showing the minimum average porosity results of 1,12%, and the compressive strength of concrete with 0.63% superplasticizer showed the highest average result of 18.91 MPa. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the use of 0.63% superplasticizer and the addition of 10% brick waste can produce concrete with good performance, namely low porosity, optimal workability, but is not yet effective in increasing the compressive strength of concrete.
