Abstract
Concrete is a construction material consisting of a mixture of aggregate, binder and water. This aggregate includes crushed stone, gravel, or sand mixed with a binder, which usually uses cement. Even though natural resources in our country are abundant, we need to remember that their availability is not unlimited. Therefore, management of natural resource utilization must be directed at achieving the optimal level of efficiency and effectiveness possible. This research focuses on the use of coconut shells, which are coconut-based household or industrial waste, as a partial replacement for fine aggregate in concrete. The research stages involve material preparation, testing coarse aggregate (crushed stone), testing fine aggregate (sand), as well as making normal concrete mix and concrete mix with the addition of coconut shell ash after meeting specifications. Followed by compressive strength testing, data analysis, and conclusions and suggestions. This test was carried out using four mixed variables, namely 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% coconut shell ash. The research results show that the use of coconut shell ash can produce a significant increase in concrete workability, although it is accompanied by a tendency to decrease compressive strength.
