Abstract

This study aims to evaluate and investigate the impact of increasing district/city minimum wages and open unemployment on economic growth and poverty in Nganjuk district. The quantitative method used in this study as well as secondary data panel data regression comes from 2017-2021 for 38 sub-districts in Nganjuk district. The results of the study indicate that, although the increase in the provincial minimum wage has a positive and significant impact on economic growth, open unemployment has a negative and significant impact. Therefore, the policy of increasing district/city minimum wages must be considered carefully to balance economic growth and reduce open unemployment.
