Abstract

This study aims to design an overlay for the Kandangan Road section in Srengat District, Blitar Regency, at STA. 0+000 to STA. 4+000. This road serves as a strategic route, functioning as a primary connection between villages and an alternative corridor between Tulungagung Regency and Blitar City. However, the road has experienced significant damage due to heavy traffic loads and pavement aging beyond its design life. The research methodology involved a survey of the existing road conditions to identify the level of damage, traffic data analysis to determine vehicle loads, and deflection measurements using the Benkelman Beam method to evaluate pavement structural capacity. The collected data were analyzed using the 2024 Pavement Design Manual (MDP) to determine the appropriate thickness and type of overlay layers. The results recommend an overlay design consisting of a 40 mm AC-WC (Asphalt Concrete - Wearing Course) layer and a 60 mm AC-BC (Asphalt Concrete - Binder Course) layer. This design is intended to enhance the road's durability, extend its service life by up to 10 years, and optimally accommodate both heavy and light vehicle traffic. This study provides significant contributions to improving the quality of local transportation infrastructure, which is expected to support economic activities and community mobility in Blitar Regency. The recommendations produced are expected to serve as references for planning and implementing similar road rehabilitation projects in the future.
