Abstract

This study aims to determine the antifungal activity of the ethanol extract of Cincau grass leaves (Cyclea barbata Miers) against the fungus Candida albicans. Green Cincau grass leaves contain compounds of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and steroids. This research carried out is experimental. The extraction method used is maceration using 70% ethanol solvent and the yield is 19.74%. The antifungal test was carried out using the well method with various concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%. The positive control used was 200 mg ketoconazole while the negative control used CMC Na. The test results showed that at a concentration of 20% was unable to inhibit the growth of Candida albicans with an average diameter of 0 mm, a concentration of 40% had an average diameter of the inhibition zone of 2.25 mm, a concentration of 60% had an average diameter of the inhibition zone of 6.70 mm, 80% concentration had an inhibition zone diameter of 9.56 mm. while the IC50 test results obtained 55.4%, meaning that at a concentration of 55.4% is the optimum concentration to inhibit fungal growth by 50%. Keywords : Green grass jelly (Cyclea varbata Miers) leaves, Diffusion pits, Ketoconazole, antifungal, Candida albicans.
