Abstract
Wuluh starfruit had properties as antibacterial. Wuluh starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi Linn) ethanol extract which had been extracted antibacterial activity agained bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. This was caused by the wuluh starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi Linn) ethanol extract contained compounds such as saponins, tannins, and flavonoids. Wuluh starfruit ethanol extract can inhibit Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and in which formula has the most inhibitory. Wuluh starfruit ethanol extract made by method maceration used ethanol 96%. Then evaporated used oven until a thick extract was formed. Tested antibacterial activity by used diffusion agained bacteria Staphylococcus aureus by mean suring diameter of the zone of inhibition grew bacterial. Wuluh starfruit ethanol extract gel preparations used FI, FII, FIII, negative control and positive control. Physical stability gel evaluation included organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, dispersibility, adhesion, and viscosity. The result of the best of the antibacterial activity gel preparation wuluh starfruit ethanol extract against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria obtains the inhibition power in formula I that is 8,50 0,57 mm, in formula II that is 9,30 0,58 mm and formula III that is 10,30 0,58 mm. Keywords : gel preparation, ethanol extract of wuluh starfruit, Staphylococcus aureus.
