Abstract

Rice husk ash is often thrown away or burned, which has a negative impact on the environment and human health. In fact, rice husk ash has great potential for use in the construction industry as an additive in concrete and construction materials. This study aims to examine and evaluate the potential use of rice husk ash as an additive in concrete and sustainable construction materials. The processes carried out included optimizing the burning of rice husks to produce highly reactive rice husk ash, evaluating the pozzolanic activity of the prepared rice husk ash, developing mortar strength with the addition of rice husk ash, sulfate attack experiments to investigate its potential resistance, and environmental evaluation of ash utilization. rice husk. The results showed that the use of improved combustion techniques on rice husk produced optimal rice husk ash with high pozzolanic activity. Mortar containing rice husk ash showed higher compressive strength, and an increase in the rapid heat flow of the pozzolan reaction and better Ca(OH)2 consumption ability compared to other mineral additives. In the sulfate attack test, the paste with the addition of 15% ash rice husk showed increased sulfate resistance and improved pore structure. The sustainability analysis shows an increase in cost efficiency and Eco efficiency as well as a reduction in energy consumption with the utilization of 15% Rice Husk Ash. Keywords: Rice husk ash, agricultural waste, sustainable materials, pozzolan, mortar strength
