Abstract

This study aims to investigate the flexural strength of laminated beams made of sengon and coconut wood in the Wonosalam area, with the aim of achieving an optimal combination of strength and ductility. The use of sengon wood and coconut wood as the main materials in laminated beams provides extra strength and lighter weight, reduces the total load on the structure, and provides environmental benefits by using local materials that are environmentally friendly and have a low carbon footprint. This research makes an important contribution to the development of sustainable construction, encouraging the further use of laminated beams of sengon and coconut wood in the construction industry in Wonosalam and its surrounding areas. The research method used is an experimental method for testing the flexural strength of laminated beams. The results showed that the maximum average flexural strength was obtained for laminated beams with a variation of EP-S (epoxy glue and positioning of Sengon wood inside) of 679,350 kg/cm2. There was an increase in strength of 254.025 kg/cm2 (59.72%), from the flexural strength of Sengon wood 425.325 kg/cm2 (class IV) to 679.350 kg/cm2 (strength class III). The use of lamination technology should pay attention to the position of the wood. Wood with a higher strength class is placed on the outside to provide reinforcement to wood with a lower strength class which is located on the inside.
