Abstract

This research explores the efficiency of soil consolidation settlement time in the context of the Dhoho Kediri International Airport Toll Road project STA 7+000 – 7+100 by applying the preloading method combined with Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD). The soft soil that dominates the project area poses serious challenges related to reduced consolidation which can have a negative impact on construction stability. The aim of this research is to measure the consolidation time before and after the application of combined PVD preloading using the Terzaghi 1D method and the Plaxis 2D program. The research results show that without acceleration, the time for land consolidation to reach 90% requires an inefficient time, exceeding 50 years. However, the use of combined PVD preloading, especially with a triangle pattern, proved to be very effective with a reduction in consolidation time of up to 20 days. The application of this method not only speeds up soil consolidation time, but also increases soil strength and stability, as well as optimal use of resources. The results of this research provide valuable insights for similar infrastructure projects, particularly in areas with soft soils, where time efficiency can play a key role in controlling costs, optimizing resources and reducing the environmental impact of construction. Keywords: Consolidation, Preloading- Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD), Time.
