Abstract

A signalized intersection is a plane meeting system for transportation elements. Signalized intersections are operated to help smooth vehicles passing through the intersection. The signalized intersection of Baptist Hospital Kediri is an urban route that is passed by many types of vehicles and goes to commercial areas. This causes traffic jams at certain times. So an analysis is needed to determine the current performance of the signalized intersection of the Baptist Hospital in Kediri (2022). The method of analysis refers to MKJI 1997 Bina Marga. The results of the analysis show that the current condition (2022) has 4 signal phases and it is known that the DS value of 1.23 > 0.85 is considered bad, categorized as F (obstructed current). To improve the performance of the intersection, it was tried to replace alternative II which was considered the most optimal by changing 3 signal phases, thereby reducing the degree of saturation (DS) in each approach decreased to 0.79 < 0.85 which was considered good categorized as D (stable current). The average intersection delay is 48,60 sec/pcu. So alternative III is the right alternative to be chosen to improve intersection performance for the next 5 years (2023 – 2027). Keywords: Signalized Intersection, MKJI 1997, Degree of Saturation.
