Abstract
Every year, around 6 trillion cigarettes are produced, generating over 1.2 million tons of cigarette butt waste scattered worldwide. An increase of over 50 percent is estimated by 2025. Most current methods involve disposing of cigarette butts in trash bins, followed by the incineration process. However, these methods have detrimental consequences, particularly related to air pollution from burning cigarette butt waste. This research aims to enhance the stability of asphalt mix AC-BC by replacing fine aggregate with cigarette butt waste. Experimental methods were conducted in the laboratory by asphalt mixing using asphalt concrete (AC-BC) in accordance with the 2018 Bina Marga standard specifications division 6. Research variables involved replacing a portion of the fine aggregate with cigarette butt waste, with variations of 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% cigarette butt waste. The experimental results indicate that as the proportion of cigarette butt waste increases, the values of Flow, VMA, and VFA tend to increase, while stability, VIM, and MQ values tend to decrease. These findings provide profound insights into optimizing the utilization of cigarette butt waste in designing more durable and sustainable road pavements. Based on this research, it can be concluded that an increase in the proportion of cigarette butt waste has the potential to have a positive impact on Flow, VMA, and VFA values, while conversely affecting stability, VIM, and MQ values. This study offers valuable insights into strategies for optimizing the use of cigarette butt waste to improve road pavement stability. Keyword : Asphalt, Cigarette Butt, Stability.
