Abstract

One of the main challenges in managing drainage systems is the risk of flooding. Flood is one of the natural disasters that has a significant negative impact on human life and the environment. In addition to natural factors such as high rainfall, the presence of sewage that pollutes the drainage system is also an important factor that worsens the flood situation. Waste is unwanted or unused material produced by humans or industrial activities. The study was conducted to determine the capacity of drainage channels that result in flooding due to drainage systems that are unable to drain rainwater flow discharge. The study was conducted using rainfall calculation data obtained from BPS Kediri Regency using manual calculations in accordance with rational methods for calculating rain discharge and manning formulas for calculating flow velocity and then the calculation results were inputted using HEC-RAS 5.0.7 software. The results of the calculation study based on the condition of the existing channel, the capacity of the existing channel in the pajajaran road area in corner village against the flow discharge of the right channel channel is Qs = 0.356 m3 / s, left side. channel is Qs = 0.373 m3/s. The current channel discharge results show that with a recovery period of 10 years, it can be seen that the capacity of the two existing channels cannot meet the design flood discharge, resulting in flooding in the area.
