Abstract
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that occurs when the body cannot produce enough insulin or cannot use insulin (insulin resistance) which is characterized by increased blood sugar levels in the body. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between drug compliance with blood sugar levels and quality of life of diabetes mellitus patients in Kandangan Health Center, Kediri Regency. This study used an analytical study with a cross-sectional design. The sample size was 70 respondents who were collected by non-probability sampling, quality of life was assessed using the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire, drug use compliance was assessed using the MMAS-8 questionnaire. Blood sugar levels were obtained from the results of the patient's fasting blood sugar level test. The data analysis method used is the Pearson chi-square test and the sperman rank test. The results showed that most people with diabetes mellitus had a low level of adherence to drug use, namely 42 respondents (60%), had high blood sugar levels as many as 45 respondents (64.3%), and had poor quality of life as many as 24 respondents (34.3%). ). Based on the results, it can be concluded that most of the patients with diabetes mellitus in the prolanis program in Kandangan District have low adherence to the use of diabetes mellitus drugs, so that it can affect the patient's blood sugar level to be high and the patient's quality of life to be poor. A significant relationship between drug adherence and blood sugar levels in DM patients was seen from the chi-square test with a value of P = 0.000 and the sperm rank test showed significant results, namely 0.000, the correlation coefficient was -0.779, meaning that there was a very strong relationship There is a negative relationship between adherence to drug use and the patient's blood sugar level. A significant relationship between drug use and quality of life of DM patients is seen from the chi-square test with p value = 0.000 and the sperman rank test results are 0.000, the correlation coefficient is -0.756, meaning that there is a strong and negative relationship between adherence to use drugs with quality of life of DM patients. Key words: Diabetes mellitus, Compliance, Blood sugar levels, Quality of life.
