Abstract

Illness often occurs in children. Handling depends on the role of parents, if done incorrectly it will cause problems and even death to children. This research was conducted to determine the relationship between the level of parental knowledge of self-medication in children at the Kediri City Pharmacy. This research method is descriptive analytic with cross sectional design. Sampling was done by using random sampling technique, the data were obtained retrospectively by using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS IBM version 25 then presented in tabular form, narrative, accompanied by interpretation. The results showed that the level of parental knowledge of self-medication in children was in the moderate category (49%) with a standard deviation of ± 0.669 and parental self-medication in children was appropriate (56.25%) with a standard deviation of ± 0.278. Based on the chi-square test, there is a relationship between the level of parental knowledge of self-medication in children at the Kediri City Pharmacy (sig p value 0.00 <0.05) and based on the Rank Spearmen test the relationship is negative.
