Abstract

The development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) plays a significant role in supporting regional economic growth, including the local wisdom-based culinary sector. Business success is closely related to the ability of entrepreneurs to manage available resources, particularly capital and innovation. This study aims to analyze the influence of capital and innovation on the business performance of local wisdom-based culinary MSMEs in Kediri Regency, specifically nasi pecel tumpang and nasi goreng arang vendors. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method involving 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method with SmartPLS software. The results indicate that capital has a positive and significant effect on business performance, with a path coefficient of 0.542, a t-statistic of 6.985, and a p-value of 0.000. Innovation also has a positive and significant effect on business performance, with a path coefficient of 0.349, a t-statistic of 4.140, and a p-value of 0.000. The R-square value of 0.677 indicates that capital and innovation jointly explain 67.7% of the variance in business performance, while the remaining 32.3% is influenced by other factors outside the research model. The effect size (f²) analysis reveals that capital contributes a greater influence on business performance than innovation. These findings suggest that strengthening capital capacity accompanied by the continuous implementation of innovation can support the improvement of business performance among local wisdom-based culinary MSMEs in Kediri Regency.
